August 2023 Status Updated on DCA Approach Procedure Changes Designed to Mitigate Noise

STATUS UPDATE ON DCA APPROACH PROCEDURE CHANGES DESIGNED TO MITIGATE NOISE

The FAA recently informed the DCA Community Working Group that the proposed changes to approach procedures from the north at DCA, designed to mitigate noise, have passed one level of internal FAA review (finding of “no significant impact”) and have moved to the next level of review (review by the Performance Based Navigation group).   In other words, because the noise screening review for the proposed procedure changes found no reportable or significant noise increases, the procedure has moved forward to the next level of internal FAA review.

At the moment, the Agency is targeting 7/11/2024 for implementing the new procedures.  This is not a firm date, but a target.

Other than the slow pace, this is good news for our communities.
